Cristina Chirila is a fashion stylist who grew up in Bucharest. In 2010, she decided to move to London to study fashion styling at St. Martins while working in sales. She quit her sales career in 2013. and have since moved to Berlin where she started to do fashion styling full time.

Currently based there, Cristina’s works have been published in the likes of PhotoVogue, Vice, Papercut Magazine, Ellements Magazine, etc. She has also taken part in two group shows at Pop-up Art Gallery in Berlin, and we are extremely thrilled to present her latest fashion spread entitled: ‘’Alice’s Dream’’

Creative directed by Cristina herself, the idea of the shoot was mainly inspired by David Lynch, who is one of her favourite movie directors. In the series of images, she wanted to recreate a female character from his movies: a beautiful, very sexual woman who appears confident, but is in fact broken and damaged.

Fashion to her shouldn’t be real:

The best thing about an editorial is when it makes people believe they could be somebody else and transports them to a different world. My idea of this world is perhaps a bit dark, but I think we all have a dark side to us.  – Cristina Chirila

While preparing for the shoot, she cited movies and music, which are forms of arts, as some of her source of inspiration. Some examples of people who’s work whom she admire are funnily enough not so much fashion related: Chloë Sevigny, Lana del Rey and Lena Dunham are amongst a few.

I like real people, people who are not afraid to be themselves. I hate fake and I find overly photoshopped fashion shoots boring,” shared Cristina.

The ‘’Alice’s Dream’’ fashion shoot took Cristina about a month to prepare. As the creative director, she had to scout for location, find the right model that fits the concept, make up and nail artist, photographer, wardrobe and last but not least, put everything together.

The shoot was eventually shot at Ritter Butzke, a famous club in Berlin.

“It is really important to have the right team, if a member of the team has a bad day than the whole shoot goes to pieces. This day was quite challenging because we only got 3 hours use of the location, so everything had to be shot fast. I want thank Joe again for letting us use the premises of Ritter Butzke and for his tremendous kindness,” added Cristina.

“My next project will be with Stefanie Schneider, who is the artist who inspired the making of Impossible instant film. I feel very honored Stefanie liked my idea and agreed to work with me and I’m looking forward to it. I will not give you all the details though yet!”

We definitely can’t wait to see it!
